Third-Gen’s Arsenal-Blog of the Week

Date Blog View Award
04/02/2008 Goonerholic Blog of the Week
11/02/2008 ArsenalFCBlog Blog of the Week
18/02/2008 YoungGuns Blog of the Week

Every week, after reviewing a host of established blogs on the Arsenal-net, Third-Gen awards an accolade to the blog that is decided to have produced the best articles, greatest enterprise and most interesting angles of the week. Barring an exceptional circumstance, no blog can be given an award two weeks running, so plenty of blogs will be able to share in the limelight, under justification.

Third-Gen’s ‘Great New Blog!’

Date Blog View Award
04/02/2008 The Arsenal Way Great New Blog!
20/02/2008 GunnersLive Great New Blog!

Additionally, Third-Gen also scours the web for the newest Arsenal blogs showing the most potential for developing into a quality news-provider and/or source of opinion. Of course, new blogs do not pop up every week, so the award is given out much more sparingly. Readers are encouraged to view the recipients’ websites, to give budding new writers (deprived of NewsNow privileges and the like) plenty of encouraging exposure.

Be sure to send us an email if you have an Arsenal blog and would like it considered for any of the above awards. Feel free to email or post comments of your opinion on the awards, any nomination you would like to make, or to bring some attention to blogs you like to visit.

Happy reading, Happy blogging. It’s a symbiotic relationship…

Stupid Idea. It’s a little bit too self gratifying, and smacks of an over developed feeling of self-importance as a blogger. Do you expect readers to rate you as a blogger every week, or have a panel of judges work out who is “the bestest”? Once this has been done do you want to award yourselves a gold star for a week on pieces you wrote the week before??

It makes no sense. It’s sounds like a tool for self promotion, and I don’t like it.

Hardly a stupid idea. What is self gratifying about promoting other Arsenal blogs and giving new ones some much needed exposure?

Though (aside from a sidebar of links) I have done little in giving any other site some exposure I plan to do so. There is no harm in linking to other posts you enjoyed or new blogs that have impressed.

Nothing wrong with giving other sites exposure, but if you think you’ve read a good blog one week, why not just mention that in the blog and supply a link? Simple. I’ve seen Arseblog, East Lower, etc do it. Isn’t that enough?

It’s the awards aspect that i think is self gratifying.

Wow, some people over analyse, and take things far too seriously. It’s just a lttle bit of fun, and it helps out other blogs that deserve to have extra readers. That’s how I view it anyway.

A one-man cleaning up mission may be on its way, soon - while league tables and recent results will be returned when football makes its long awaited return, the site will be getting a shoeshine, too. Let me know what rumbles your fancy in the 'about: Thirdgen' comment board.
