Wenger’s Handling of Captaincy upsets Gilberto

Morning, one and all. Number of things going on to do with Arsenal, the most surprising of which was Gilberto revealing the means by which he found out about Gallas’ appointment: The internet. Not Wenger, not teammates even (though that would have been just as bad), but the same medium all us non-playing plebs use. It is totally uncharacteristic of Mr Man-Management Wenger. To give it to Gallas was one thing, but to not take Gilberto aside is very unlike him.

Wenger has responded, however, playing down the importance of the captain’s role with team spirit being the most important commodity: “I respect Gilberto a lot, I cannot justify every small decision and explain it to everybody. He was not in the group last week and that is why it happened.

Phone calls, organizing meetings, anyone? A black mark on his record, I guess. But It is something we can get over shortly as we look towards the rest of the season. Gallas, in the meantime, is making all the squeaky noises.

In other news, Benni McCarthy is a doubt to play against us on Saturday,  Lawrie Sanchez has apologized for his ‘diving’ comments (hooray), and Rosicky is expecting an emotional return to Prague.

All for now, have to run. Ciao!
